Validate Your HTML5 Banner
Upload a .zip of the complete creative, or a single .html or .htm file when everything is contained in one document.
Clicks
A click tag is the link that opens the advertiser’s website and lets the ad server count the click. Google Web Designer stores the same idea as an exit event.
Files in the banner
Links loaded from the internet
Addresses inside the banner that point outside the package. https is the secure form.
Notes
Check HTML5 Creatives Before GAM Upload
HTML5 banner packages can fail during trafficking because the declared size is missing, the ZIP contains unexpected files, click tracking is not exposed correctly, or the creative loads insecure resources. This validator gives publishers, designers, and ad operations teams a readable QA summary before the banner reaches Google Ad Manager.
The check does not edit the creative. It inspects the uploaded package, lists what it finds, and creates a temporary preview so you can confirm rendering and test detected click targets.
What the HTML Banner Validator Checks
- Banner width and height from ad metadata, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, or the file name
- Total uncompressed package weight and an inventory of included files
- Standard clickTag, click URL, Google Web Designer exit, and Google Ad Manager macro patterns
- External scripts, images, fonts, and other requests loaded by the creative
- Secure HTTPS links and common package issues that need review
- A resizable live preview with click-throughs contained inside the test
How to Validate an HTML5 Banner
- Export the complete creative as a ZIP, or use a single self-contained HTML file
- Upload the file and select Check banner
- Review the detected dimensions, weight, files, click targets, requests, and notes
- Open the preview to test rendering, resizing, and click behavior
- Correct any issues in the source creative and validate the updated package again
Upload and Preview Rules
These technical details explain how packages are handled. They do not change the checks shown in your result.
- 30-day retention: the original upload, validation result, and test preview are available for up to 30 days.
- Supported input: upload a ZIP package or one HTML/HTM file. The unpacked content can be up to 50 MB.
- Primary document: a ZIP works best with one HTML file. If several are present, the validator selects the most likely main document and reports the others.
- System files: Mac packaging files such as
__MACOSX,.DS_Store, and._*, plus common Windows system files, are ignored and are not counted as extra HTML or banner files. - Contained click tests: preview clicks stay inside the test page instead of opening the advertiser’s website.
Google Ad Manager Compatibility
The validator looks for implementation details commonly used in Google Ad Manager HTML5 creative workflows, including the ad.size meta tag, clickTag variables, GAM click macros, and Google Web Designer exits.
A successful result means the package passed the checks available in this tool. It does not guarantee platform approval or replace Google Ad Manager creative policies, account configuration, or a final test in the target ad unit.

FAQ
What does the HTML5 banner validator check?
It checks detected dimensions, total package weight, included files, clickTag or exit setup, external links, HTTPS usage, and whether the creative can open in a live test preview.
Which files can I upload?
Upload a ZIP containing the complete banner or a single HTML/HTM file when the creative is self-contained. Unpacked content can be up to 50 MB.
How long are uploaded banners kept?
The original upload, validation result, and test preview are available for up to 30 days.
Are Mac system files counted as banner files?
No. Files and folders such as __MACOSX, .DS_Store, and AppleDouble files beginning with ._ are ignored and are not counted as extra HTML or banner files.
Does a successful check guarantee Google Ad Manager approval?
No. The validator helps find common packaging and implementation issues before upload, but it does not replace GAM policies, account settings, or final platform review.
