A couple of days before new year we finished and released new custom creative template for DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP), named Expander. This template was one of the most required by our clients for some time.
An expanding creative is an ad with two sizes; an initial collapsed size and expanded size. The smaller collapsed size fits within a standard ad placement on a website, while the larger size appears to expand outside the collapsed size. The ad can expand to any desired direction when a user clicks or rolls over collapsed size. Each ad size require separate banners (.jpg, .gif, .png or HTML5) – one banner for collapsed size and other for expanded size.
This creative template works with or without SafeFrame option enabled. It also allows click tracking for HTML5 banners without clickTag implemented.
